What You'll Do
  • You will be part of Cisco's Technical Services team of technical authorities whose #1 focus is to help customers deploy and operate their networks effectively while delivering the best possible customer experience.
  • You will be part of Cisco's Firepower Security technology team consisting of the industry's brightest minds, developing and deploying today's most sophisticated Internet technologies.

The Global Technical Center, Americas provides both premium and highly technical support to customers in the Americas Region. We deliver hardware and software solutions to our most critical customers.

Who You Are
  • You will provide 2nd/3rd level technical support for Firepower Security technologies to Cisco customers, partners, account teams, and other Technical Assistance Center engineers.
  • You can apply your analytical skills and technical knowledge to take on product and network problems of moderate to high complexity.
  • You will also provide technology/product training and intellectual property material as required.
  • You'll act as focal point for large account network problem resolution.
  • You can optimally apply moderate to sophisticated lab setups to recreate and tackle problems.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support for Cisco security products to Cisco customers, partners, account teams, and other internal technical support teams.
  • Handle a wide variety of technical support problems—from simple application or network configuration fixes to very sophisticated problem resolution.
  • Apply moderate to sophisticated lab setups to recreate and solve problems.
  • Submit complete and accurate defect reports with collaboration and supervision.
  • Work with minimal direction and exercise judgment within defined procedures to resolve appropriate action.
  • Collaborate with other TAC engineers across technology boundaries to help drive quicker resolution where multiple technologies may be involved.

The Technical Consulting Engineer is a hybrid position. Candidates should reside in Mexico and plan to be able to work from the Mexico City office or Guadalajara Office.

Minimum Qualifications:

(Required to be initially considered for this position)

  • Possess 5+ years of technical support experience in networking and security.
  • Strong working knowledge of networking products such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Basic understanding of BGP, PBR, NAT, OSPF, ACL, DNS, ARP Inspection, IPSec Concepts, TCP vs. UDP, FTP, SFTP, TFTP, HTTP, HTTPS, DHCP, DNS, ICMP, NTP, IPv4, IPv6.
  • Basic knowledge of databases such as SQL, Microsoft Active Directory, Linux, or Unix.
  • Experience using Wireshark, Packet Analyzer, and other tools for TCP/IP packet analysis.
  • Possess an English level equivalent to B2 or higher.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (such as Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunication) or equivalent experience.
  • Cisco CCNP, CCNP Security, or CCIE Certification.
  • Prior experience or knowledge in Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) firewalls, FTD, Firepower, FMC, APIs, server virtualization, and scripting skills (Python, Perl, Bash).
