**Position Summary**:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing the daily operations of STERIS payroll processing team as well as managing special projects such as acquisition integrations, system upgrades, and process, policy and procedure changes. This role oversees the workflow, systems, processes, and direct reports that are responsible for processing payroll for all employees in Mexico. The supervisor is accountable for ensuring accurate and timely preparation of payment of wages to Employees, withholding taxes for Federal, State, and Local taxing authorities, and that the payment of nontax withheld amounts to the applicable payees occurs timely. Requires the ability to plan, assess, and organize multiple tasks, people, and projects to deliver successful results.

**Duties**:

- Payroll Processing Management.
- Supervise workflow within the corporate payroll department to ensure timely and accurate calculation, preparation, and distribution of compensation.
- Ensures timely collection of hours worked utilizing the Electronic Time Keeping System: TRESS.
- Works with the local Tax department, legal and Tax advisors and both external and internal auditors, and Human Resource Departments, and multi-state legal requirements and within the Company policy and procedures. Interprets Company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures.
- Assist Payroll support staff by performing as the liaison with other departments and locations to resolve payroll problems.
- Provide payroll information as required to support management informational needs relative to individual Employees, departments, divisions, and groups.
- Assist Accounting with the reconciliation of the funds collected and deposited for the employee and employer portion of payroll taxes.
- Review of payroll processed to verify payroll system totals agree to control totals.
- Responsible for timely and accurate preparation of various income statements, and other appropriate reporting forms to employees for annual wage and tax reporting.
- Support the Payroll Analyst in maintaining the information integrity between the HIRS System and payroll database.
- Provide ongoing training to Employees relative to improved job performance; assist Employees in understanding and executing new responsibilities. At minimum annually conduct a performance review, recommending a change in compensation, as appropriate.
- Facilitate bi weekly team meetings to review department processes, procedures and provide necessary updates as well as identify process improvement initiatives and define standards for new processes.
- Interview, hire, train, coach and develop team members to create a high performing, engaged team.
- Project Management and Other Duties (25%)
- Manages payroll conversion projects, working across the business to meet project deliverables and timelines.

- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Knowledge of TRESS or other payroll provider software
- Strong problem resolution mindset, communication, time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in supporting management role and continuously develop skills and knowledge to promote advancement.
- Functional responsibility for direct reports regarding execution of payroll functions for the company.
- Verified that direct reports comply with corporate policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of automated accounting and payroll concepts, procedures, techniques, principles and multi state payroll regulations and administration are required.
- Determine the accuracy and validity of information received regarding wage payments issued to employees. Discrepancy of information reviewed and corrected.
- Reconciliation and ability to analyze accounting and financial information.

**Required Experience**:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or relevant experience required.

Minimum of 8 years of payroll experience, with increasing responsibility in an automated, multi-state payroll department.

3 years of leadership or people management experience required (potentially allow this to be preferred).
