About the Role:

Corning Incorporated is seeking a highly skilled Oracle Database Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for providing superior engineering and production support for Oracle Database environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leverage your technical expertise to drive platform stability and maximize performance of database environments.
  • Partner with application owners and teams to understand application and business needs and Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
  • Provide production support for database environments, working closely with 24X7 support staff.
  • Perform database administration tasks, including installation, configuration, management, patching, and upgrading of database environments.
  • Ensure database backup and recovery processes are in place and functioning correctly.
  • Perform database refreshes and monitor database performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Using your database expertise and leadership experience, identify and drive improvement efforts related to our database portfolio.
  • Participate in Change Advisory Board and provide guidance on database changes, performing problem resolution for complex issues.
  • Provide off-hours support for critical production issues, as required.
  • Automate infrastructure components using scripting, coding, and automation tools, such as PowerShell, Microsoft DSC, Chef, Puppet, Ruby, Terraform, or OEM.
  • Maintain technical knowledge on current and emerging Multi-Cloud developments, industry trends, and collaborate with stakeholders to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.
  • Work with the third-party support team and application support teams to educate and guide them on supporting database infrastructure-related technologies.
  • Promote and self-demonstrate Corning's principles of Performance, Leadership, Innovation, Independence, the Individual, Quality, and Integrity.

Requirements:

  • BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience working in IT as an Oracle Database Administrator.
  • Played pivotal roles as Database Administrator and support staff across various database technologies.
  • Knowledgeable in database technologies, including Oracle RAC, Grid Infrastructure, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and Linux scripting.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows OS.
  • Should have experience working in a manufacturing industry (or similar) to understand data security requirements, such as ITAR/PCI/PHI/HIPAA/NIST/SOX.
  • Effective leadership, organization, and planning skills, with ability to handle changing priorities.
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of on-time delivery within budget, with ability to drive projects to successful conclusion using influencing tools.
  • Ability to lead international teams across multiple initiatives that span various lines of business, geographic borders, time zones, and cultures.
  • Experience with SAP/PeopleSoft is a plus.
