**Job Summary:** Supply Chain Specialist/Material Planner

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Develop, finalize, and communicate the material requirements plan to meet customer demand on timely availability.
  • Schedule timely delivery of materials, evaluate material supply and demand, and establish ROP/ROQs based on forecasts and plans for every part visible in histograms.
  • Coordinate all activities involved with identifying, ordering, and scheduling requirements for finished goods and purchased WIP components.
  • Determine and maintain inventory levels necessary to achieve overall company goals by balancing risk and reward, adjusting for seasonality as required.
  • Proactively advise management of material events that can potentially disrupt production plans, working cross-functionally to explore mitigating options.
  • Schedule and expedite the approval of materials to support production schedules and other project activities.
  • Measure supplier delivery performance and address opportunities.
  • Manage inventory levels in multiple locations, participating in new product launches by working with vendors to ensure PPAP documentation is complete and correct prior to submission.
  • Conduct Control Plan audits as part of the PPAP verification process and periodically during production to ensure vendor quality systems are maintained.
  • Execute finished part inspections, record data, maintain records, and share inspection results with Synapse International and supplier team members, including inspection of color, aesthetics, dimensions, packaging, etc.
  • Issue and follow up on SCARs, being an active participant in the development of corrective actions and conducting periodic audits to ensure continued effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to use measurement tools, including calipers, measuring tapes, gloss meters, and make decisions about aesthetic quality.
  • Ability to do basic analysis of inspection data against specifications.
  • Must have a continuous learning mindset to reflect on the past and make the future better.
  • Ability to prioritize.
  • Customer and supplier focus, proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of inventory planning, purchasing procedures, inventory management, and supply chain concepts.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.

**Core Competencies:**

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or 5+ years' planner/buyer manufacturing experience is preferred (Bachelor's degree can be waived).
  • Experience: Experience using an ERP system; JDE experience a plus.
  • Understanding of material requirement concepts.
  • Strong communication, planning, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Proficient to advanced with MS Excel and proficient with MS Office (Word, Outlook).
  • Be flexible enough to change with an ever-changing business environment.
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) a must.
  • Be tenacious on supply assurance.

**Success Measures:**

  • Ninety (90) days: Engage customer service in creative solutions if and when backorders occur.
  • Start to use histograms and knowledge of supplier lead times to purchase correct quantities in the correct time frame.
  • Start to be self-sufficient for the most part on the planning/purchasing aspects of the job.
  • Six (6) Months: Complete the root causes of delivery issues and make plans for corrective action.
  • See reliability of supply improve from supplier(s) 20% improvement in on-time delivery and 50% reduction in supplier lead time.
  • One (1) year: Implement corrective actions.
  • 95% on-time delivery.
  • Lead time of 4 weeks or less.
  • 99% shipping accuracy.
  • 99%+ quality.
