JOB DESCRIPTION: Broadcast Log Manager
Role Overview
The primary duty of the Broadcast Log Manager is to create a comprehensive Schedule for a 24-hour Log that is both complete and precise, ensuring that all content is ready for broadcast. This role is crucial in meeting the objectives of the Network by implementing the strategies and directives provided by Advertising Sales, Programming, and On-Air Departments. A significant focus is placed on the meticulous arrangement of Commercial spots according to Agency guidelines, emphasizing attention to detail and accuracy. Additionally, the Broadcast Log Manager is tasked with systematically organizing breaks to maintain an appealing, informative, and dynamic On-Air presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- 40% Commercial Arrangement: Utilizing Landmark, systematically organize and position all Commercial Spots in alignment with client directives and based on Priority Tokens. Adjust inventory to accommodate any Limbo Spots, ensuring appropriate reasoning for any that cannot be placed. Guarantee that competing advertisers are not scheduled consecutively and that advertisers experience equitable rotation.
- 20% Graphic Scheduling: Employing Vision, schedule Graphic Elements on the Log in accordance with the Secondary Events Strategy. These Graphics support the On-Air and Marketing Strategy while providing additional opportunities for Advertising Sales to present to Clients. In addition to scheduling these components, verify that Automatic Secondary Events such as Menus, Next On's, and Disclaimers are accurately positioned within each Program and for each Feed.
- 20% Commercial Timing and Log Preparation: Following Programming's completion of Planning for the upcoming month, Schedules are generated approximately 14 days prior to Air for Planning purposes. About 10 days before Air, precise Timing will be conducted based on Segment durations for each hour, adjusting Commercial Breaks by either adding or removing time to ensure the Log totals 24 hours. The Log will also undergo thorough review to confirm that the correct Templates are applied for each scheduled Program. The finalized Breaks will then be sent to the Sales system.
- 10% Commercial Spot Verification: Confirm that all spots exported from Landmark are successfully imported into Vision, investigating and resolving any discrepancies. Add Multi-billboard IDs for any Sponsorships. Release the Log to the Media Planning Team for GripIt upload. Collaborate with the Media Planning Team to ensure accurate transfer between systems.
- 5% Exact Time Log Management: Upload Promo Strategy from GripIt to Vision, ensuring all elements have been uploaded successfully. Review the Log for any Gaps or overlaps, making adjustments as necessary to guarantee each show starts and ends punctually, and that the Log sums to a complete 24 hours.
- 5% Final Log Review: Conduct a thorough review of the Log to ensure all elements are accurately placed. Double-check each component on the Log meticulously. Confirm the Segmentation order for each Program, placement of Cable Breaks within each hour, and that all material durations have been updated, ensuring each hour is timed out for a complete 24-hour Log. For specific Channels/Feeds, Legal disclaimers and Minute Restrictions must be validated.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Administration, Marketing, or Communications.
- 1+ year of professional experience, ideally in traffic operations or the entertainment industry.
Knowledge and Skills
- Proficiency in English and/or Spanish (both written and oral).
- Familiarity with Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook.
Abilities
- Effective time management and prioritization skills. Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
- Capability to perform under pressure and adapt to last-minute changes.
- Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to interpret various computer-generated reports.
