JOB DESCRIPTION: Broadcast Log Specialist

Role Overview

The primary duty of the Broadcast Log Specialist is to create a comprehensive Schedule for a 24-hour Log that is both complete and precise, ensuring that all content slated for broadcast aligns with the Network's objectives. This role involves executing strategies and directives provided by the Advertising Sales, Programming, and On-Air Departments. The focus is on the meticulous placement of Commercial spots in accordance with Agency guidelines, requiring a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. Additionally, the Broadcast Log Specialist is tasked with systematically organizing breaks to maintain an appealing, informative, and fresh On-Air presentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • 40% Commercial Placement: Utilize Landmark to systematically arrange all Commercial Spots following client directives and Priority Tokens. Adjust inventory to accommodate Limbo Spots, ensuring that competitive advertisers are not placed consecutively and that all advertisers receive equitable rotation.
  • 20% Graphic Scheduling: Employ Vision to schedule Graphic Elements on the Log, adhering to the Secondary Events Strategy. These Graphics enhance the On-Air and Marketing strategies and provide additional opportunities for Ad Sales engagement with Clients. Confirm that Automatic Secondary Events such as Menus, Next On's, and Disclaimers are correctly positioned within each Program and Feed.
  • 20% Log Preparation and Timing: Following Programming's monthly Planning, Schedules are crafted approximately 14 days in advance for Planning purposes. About 10 days prior to Air, precise Timing adjustments are made based on Segment durations, ensuring the Log accurately reflects a 24-hour period. Review the Log to confirm that the appropriate Templates are applied for each scheduled Program, subsequently sending the Breaks to the Sales system.
  • 10% Spot Imports: Ensure all spots exported from Landmark are successfully imported into Vision, investigating and resolving any discrepancies. Add Multi-billboard IDs for Sponsorships and release the Log to the Media Planning Team for GripIt upload, collaborating to ensure accurate system transfers.
  • 5% Time Log Management: Upload Promo Strategy from GripIt to Vision, verifying successful uploads of all elements. Review the Log for any Gaps or overlaps, making necessary adjustments to ensure each show starts and ends punctually, culminating in a complete 24-hour Log.
  • 5% Final Log Verification: Conduct a thorough review of the Log to confirm accurate placement of all elements. Double-check each Log component meticulously, ensuring the Segmentation order for each Program is correct, placement of Cable Breaks is appropriate, and all material durations are updated for a complete 24-hour Log. Verify Legal disclaimers and Minute Restrictions for specific Channels/Feeds.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Administration, Marketing, or Communications.
  • At least 1 year of relevant business experience, ideally in traffic operations or the entertainment sector.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficiency in English and/or Spanish (both written and oral).
  • Familiarity with Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook.

Abilities

  • Strong time management and prioritization skills, capable of working under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to last-minute changes and work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to interpret various computer-generated reports.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment.
