JOB DESCRIPTION: Broadcast Log Specialist

Role Overview

The primary duty of the Broadcast Log Specialist is to create a comprehensive Schedule for a 24-hour Log that is both complete and precise, ensuring that all content scheduled for broadcast aligns with the strategic objectives set forth by the Network. This role involves meticulous attention to detail in the placement of Commercial spots, adhering closely to Agency directives. Additionally, the Broadcast Log Specialist is tasked with systematically organizing breaks to maintain an appealing, informative, and dynamic On-Air presentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • 40% Commercial Placement: Utilize Landmark to systematically arrange all Commercial Spots in line with client specifications and Priority Tokens. Adjust inventory to accommodate Limbo Spots, providing appropriate justifications for any preemptions. Ensure competitive advertisers are not scheduled consecutively and that all advertisers receive equitable rotation.
  • 20% Graphic Scheduling: Employ Vision to schedule Graphic Elements on the Log, guided by the Secondary Events Strategy. These Graphics support the On-Air and Marketing strategies while offering additional opportunities for Ad Sales engagement with Clients. Confirm that Automatic Secondary Events such as Menus, Next On's, and Disclaimers are accurately positioned within each Program and Feed.
  • 20% Log Preparation and Timing: Following Programming's monthly Planning, create Schedules approximately 14 days prior to Air for Planning purposes. About 10 days ahead of Air, finalize Timing based on Segment durations for each hour, adjusting Commercial Breaks as necessary to ensure the Log totals 24 hours. Review the Log meticulously to confirm that the correct Templates are applied for each scheduled Program, then submit the Breaks to the Sales system.
  • 10% Spot Imports: Confirm that all spots exported from Landmark are successfully imported into Vision, addressing any discrepancies. Add Multi-billboard IDs for Sponsorships and release the Log to the Media Planning Team for GripIt upload. Collaborate with the Media Planning Team to ensure accurate system transfers.
  • 5% Exact Time Log: Upload Promo Strategy from GripIt to Vision, ensuring all elements have uploaded correctly. Review the Log for any Gaps or overlaps, making adjustments as necessary to guarantee each show starts and ends punctually, resulting in a complete 24-hour Log.
  • 5% Final Log Review: Conduct a thorough review of the Log to verify accurate placement of all elements. Double-check each component on the Log, confirming Segmentation order for each Program, placement of Cable Breaks, and that all material durations are updated to ensure the Log is timed correctly for a complete 24-hour broadcast. For specific Channels/Feeds, verify Legal disclaimers and Minute Restrictions.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Administration, Marketing, or Communications.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in business, ideally within traffic operations or the entertainment sector.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficiency in English and/or Spanish (both written and verbal).
  • Strong skills in Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook.

Competencies

  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to pressure and last-minute changes.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to interpret various computer-generated reports.
