About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mexican Legal Counsel to join our team in Mexico City. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in supporting our development projects and business activities in Mexico.
Job Description
The Senior Mexican Legal Counsel will serve as the primary point of contact for all legal matters related to our development projects and business activities in Mexico. This includes reviewing, negotiating, preparing, and advising on various contracts, such as those related to real estate development, construction, operations, and corporate law matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Royal Caribbean with respect to cruise port development and management in Mexico, including obtaining necessary concessions and authorizations, conducting due diligence, and drafting and negotiating legal agreements.
- Support Royal Caribbean's current and future strategic partnerships in Mexico.
- Support the Company's Perfect Day and Royal Beach Club portfolio in Mexico with due diligence and acquisition/leasing of new project sites, and drafting and negotiation of legal agreements.
- Draft, negotiate, and review transactional real estate documents, loan and financing documents, and general corporate documents.
- Research, review, and interpret Mexican legal and political developments affecting the Company's business and stay current on new and proposed changes.
- Track and provide guidance on existing and new Mexican laws and regulations applicable to Royal Caribbean's developments and operations in Mexico.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A duly licensed attorney in good standing in Mexico with strong academic credentials from an accredited law school.
- A minimum of 7-10 years of transactional legal experience as a practicing lawyer with real estate, infrastructure development, and/or corporate law experience.
- Excellent understanding of the role of notaries in Mexico and the administrative formalities required to comply with Mexican real property, corporate, and other law.
- Candidate must be bilingual with full professional proficiency in both English and Spanish.
