We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Coffee and Cocoa Market Systems Manager to join our team at Heifer International. As a key member of our global development team, you will be responsible for leading the implementation of projects related to the coffee and cocoa market system in Mexico.
Main Responsibilities- Project Management: Lead the team in the execution of projects related to the coffee and cocoa market system, ensuring effective project implementation within the parameters set by Heifer and our funders.
- Market Development: Design and implement new projects to increase the income of small-scale coffee and cocoa producers in Mexico, focusing on sustainable increases in productivity and quality, value addition, commercial linkages, and certifications.
- Team Management: Manage the talent of the operational team, including supervision, performance evaluation, and development of team members.
- Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative tasks such as reporting, account submission, expense reporting, purchasing processes, and public relations and communication as a Heifer representative.
- Leadership: Demonstrate leadership skills, including conflict management, problem-solving, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing rural development projects in multiple territories and in the coffee and cocoa market system.
- Language: Bilingual English/Spanish - reading, writing, and oral communication (intermediate business English).
- Advanced Education: Master's degree and/or complementary training in rural development, business development, or landscape management.
- International Experience: Experience working with international NGOs or similar institutions and/or experience with the private sector in market systems development.
- Market Knowledge: Working knowledge of business model development and implementation, as well as entrepreneurial skills, including understanding of financial variables, investment returns, market segmentation, value addition, and marketing.
- Financial Management: Understanding of financial instruments and access to financing, as well as strategies for product positioning in the market and market development.
- Production Processes: Mastery of production processes, quality, certifications, sales, and marketing of coffee and cocoa products.
- Gender Issues: Knowledge of gender issues, including awareness and experience with women's empowerment processes.
- Climate Change: Understanding of resilience, climate change mitigation, and adaptation.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS-Office, including Word, Excel, PPT, and Microsoft Project, as well as experience with Zoom.
