The Senior Counsel Capital Markets is a senior professional position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to manage and direct day-to-day legal activities in coordination with the Legal team.
Key Responsibilities- Manage day-to-day activities of Legal team(s) within a country, product or sub-unit.
- Evaluate employee performance and provide recommendations for pay increases, promotions, terminations, etc.
- Provide legal advisory services to business managers and defend legal matters.
- Supervise external counsel and resolve moderately complex issues.
- Continuously stay informed of regulatory changes, new regulations, internal policy changes and developments in the law.
- Allocate and coordinate resources and conduct planning and budgeting activities, as needed.
- 6-10 years of relevant experience.
- Valid Bar license to practice law.
- Banking/financial industry experience or experience from big law firm.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of area of responsibility.
- Comprehensive knowledge of local, state and federal laws and practices.
- Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Experience in companies listed on stock exchanges or in capital markets firms.
- Preferably experience in dealing with external law firms in the US.
- Experience in IPOs, stock issuances, or experience in companies listed on the stock exchange.
- Indispensable advanced English management (speaking, reading, writing).
This position is part of a new team (Corporate Reporting team) that will report into the Head of Legal of Corporate Governance and Commercial Banking and will be responsible for regulatory compliance with securities market regulations, as well as disclosures to stock exchanges and regulators.
