Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management for Aplus Logistics, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with tax regulations, and adherence to financial principles. This role involves managing financial operations, preparing financial statements, and providing strategic support to the finance team. The Senior Accountant will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to improve financial processes and maintain fiscal integrity.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the execution of all financial functions for the organization to ensure accurate financial management.
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with national fiscal regulations and financial principles.
  • Manage various financial tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Assist with tax audits and the preparation of tax returns, ensuring all reporting is completed timely and accurately.
  • Assess internal controls to identify areas of improvement and implement best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with fiscal regulations in Mexico and international financial standards.
  • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable to ensure data integrity.
  • Reconcile account balances and bank statements to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Maintain the general ledger and oversee month-end closing procedures, ensuring timely and precise reporting.
  • Ensure accuracy and effectiveness in all financial operations and reporting tasks.
  • Provide technical support and strategic advice on finance management to improve financial performance.
  • Supervise accounting assistants and bookkeepers, providing guidance to support their professional development.
  • Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance with financial regulations and organizational policies.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely completion and accuracy.
  • Participate in the development of financial standards and internal control management.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Manager and headquarters to enhance financial and accounting procedures.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Accounting Supervisor, Chief, or Senior Accountant.
  • Thorough knowledge of basic and advanced accounting procedures.
  • In-depth understanding of fiscal compliance in Mexico and international financial standards.
  • Familiarity with financial accounting statements and financial reporting.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Exceptional numerical aptitude and quantitative skills.
  • Excellent teamwork and a positive attitude in a collaborative work environment.
  • Fluent in English with strong communication skills.
  • Updated knowledge of current Mexican tax laws and all legal tax obligations.
  • Previous experience in the logistics industry is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Certified Accountant with professional title and license.
