General Summary

This role represents the first full level of specialization within the field, leveraging expertise across multiple domains. The incumbent will operate within established professional standards and policies, addressing a variety of challenges where data analysis is crucial. The position holds accountability for the quality of deliverables from external suppliers. The individual may influence cross-functional teams to achieve objectives and resolve conflicts effectively. Inaccurate decisions or failure to meet targets may adversely affect operational performance. Guidance is primarily sought for unique or complex issues. The role may involve leading project teams or providing specialized advice, while fostering new and existing relationships.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Overseeing global or regional responsibilities for strategic commodities, focusing on price/value assessment, product negotiations, and contract terms. Crafting and executing procurement strategies for managed commodities, including competitive analysis, supplier evaluation, and pricing tactics. Serving as the primary liaison with suppliers for relationship management, contract negotiations, and performance evaluations. Ensuring continuity of supply while optimizing cost efficiency for products and services. Leading corporate negotiation teams for high-stakes commodities and managing the Customer Material Commitment process. Providing performance insights and cost analysis to senior management. Supporting team development through recruitment, training, and mentoring of new staff. Directing negotiations for impactful commodities, developing strategies, and ensuring consistent communication with suppliers. Engaging with senior executives from leading multinational corporations. Managing the Global Commodity Negotiation process, ensuring accurate forecasting and pricing integrity. Overseeing data management related to market pricing fluctuations and analytical tools. Conducting strategic assessments on pricing, market trends, suppliers, and competitors. Acting as a liaison for critical shortages and developing strategies for constrained commodities. Driving process enhancements and developing IT tools to support operational efficiency. Executing bid activities for complex and high-visibility projects.

Required Skills and Competencies

In-depth understanding of market conditions for a wide range of strategic commodities, including pricing and supply/demand dynamics. Familiarity with server management hardware industry. Knowledge of Celestica's global supply chain policies and objectives. Proficiency in basic computer applications and ability to adapt to various departmental software, including ERP systems. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities. Strong grasp of negotiation methodologies for commodities. Capability to manage multiple tasks with precision and under tight deadlines. Ability to prioritize and resolve diverse tasks to ensure timely completion.

Work Environment

This position is primarily office-based. May require prolonged periods of sitting and focused attention on computer screens. Frequent travel may be necessary.

Experience and Education

Six to eight years of relevant experience. Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
