Sales Compensation Analytics Specialist

Position Overview
This role is a vital component of the Global Sales Compensation team, supporting all facets of the worldwide Sales organization. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with the Global Sales Compensation team and other Sales Operations teams.
The individual will manage the sales compensation management tool (Varicent), oversee the implementation of new software versions, and conduct testing. They will work with various teams and business units to gather and enhance data, ensuring that logic and information flows are current and efficient. Additionally, the candidate will collaborate with other teams and vendors to optimize the compensation tool and its outputs. Involvement in complex strategic reporting will also be part of the role, applying a comprehensive perspective on processes and the organization to maximize decision-making impact. Attention to detail, teamwork, curiosity, and a passion for data and systems, combined with an awareness of the broader context, are essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer the sales compensation tool across all levels, from frontline to executive, aligning with global company strategic initiatives.
- Design, develop, implement, and manage sales compensation reports, models, and forecasts at all levels to meet the strategic objectives of senior sales leaders.
- Proactively propose new initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of data repositories, data flows, and data quality.
- Collaborate with multiple teams and business units to gather, enrich, and present data.
- Develop relevant policies and procedures to ensure best practices are followed.
- Analyze key performance metrics to provide insights into sales compensation trends.
- Coordinate with Finance and Sales Operations on budget planning and sales compensation accruals.
- Assist managers in generating insightful analyses for resource allocation.
- Lead special projects as required.
- Uphold F5's Business Code of Ethics and promptly report any violations of the Code or company policies.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in Sales Compensation, Sales Operations, Engineering, or Finance/Accounting/Payroll Operations is essential.
- Proficiency in SQL (basic to intermediate) is required.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel are necessary.
- Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM systems is advantageous.
- Experience with Sales Compensation software such as Varicent or Callidus is a plus.
- Knowledge of Tableau or Microsoft Power BI is beneficial.
- Strong sense of responsibility, excellent work ethic, and attention to detail are crucial.
- A passion for data, analytics, and problem-solving is expected.
- Curiosity, proactivity, and independence are key traits.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with a high degree of autonomy.
- Capability to manage multiple projects under time constraints.
- Flexibility to adapt to change and shift priorities in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Educational Requirements
- A BA/BS degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in Sales Compensation, Sales Operations, Information Technology, or a related field is necessary.
- Experience in report design and optimization, data analysis, financial analysis, and business intelligence is preferred.
- Experience in the Information Technology industry is desirable.
Work Environment
- Work is performed in a standard office environment, primarily at a desk or computer workstation.
- Responsibilities require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate via telephone, and read printed materials.
- Occasional on-call duties and flexibility to work outside of normal hours may be required.
- Travel may be necessary, approximately 10% of the time.
