Educational Support Specialist and Cafeteria Service Technician

Position Overview: This role encompasses 6.0 hours dedicated to educational support personnel ($20.56/hr) and 2.0 hours as a cafeteria service technician ($19.87/hr).

The Educational Support Specialist is responsible for aiding in the supervision and instruction of students under the guidance of certified educators. This includes teaching behavioral and social skills or functional life skills to special education students, monitoring student progress, and assisting in the execution of instructional plans. This position reports directly to the Principal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Modify classroom activities and materials, as directed by certified staff, to ensure inclusivity for all students with varying learning levels and functional capabilities.
  • Support special education students with daily living skills (e.g., toileting, feeding) to foster a constructive environment for addressing individual student needs.
  • Assist certified staff in delivering a range of instructional activities, including academic subjects and social/behavioral skills, to reinforce learning objectives and promote student success.
  • Communicate with various stakeholders, as instructed, to provide updates on student progress as outlined in their individual educational programs.
  • Maintain instructional materials and student records to document activities and ensure the availability of necessary resources.
  • Supervise students across various settings (e.g., restrooms, playgrounds, cafeteria) to model appropriate behavior and ensure a safe learning environment.
  • Encourage students through positive reinforcement to help them achieve their individual and school-wide objectives.
  • Address emergency situations and conflicts with students to promote positive outcomes and ensure safety.
  • Transport students as needed to ensure they reach their designated locations safely.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED is required. Candidates must be highly qualified.

Cafeteria Technician Role: This position involves preparing and serving food items to students and staff while maintaining a clean and safe food service environment. This role reports to the Building Cafeteria Manager or Building Food Services Manager.

Essential Duties:

  • Set up food items, supplies, and serving lines to meet cafeteria standards.
  • Ensure cleanliness of utensils, equipment, and food preparation areas to uphold sanitary conditions.
  • Process payments to secure funds for meal costs and evaluate food quality for presentation.
  • Inspect food items and supplies to verify orders and comply with health standards.
  • Manage inventory of food and supplies to ensure availability.
  • Monitor students' food selections to meet nutritional requirements and prepare meals accordingly.
  • Report equipment issues to maintain safe operational standards.
  • Provide information regarding meal options and costs to students and staff.
  • Stock food and supplies to maintain adequate inventory levels.

Qualifications:
