POSITION SUMMARY
- The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is integral to maintaining the operational efficiency and safety of the organization's facilities, equipment, and infrastructure. This role involves overseeing maintenance operations, scheduling repairs, and ensuring adherence to safety standards and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintenance Coordination: Organize and schedule maintenance activities, including preventive measures, routine checks, and repairs, to reduce downtime and ensure peak performance of facilities and equipment.
- Work Order Oversight: Manage the intake, prioritization, and assignment of work orders to maintenance personnel or external service providers, ensuring timely and quality completion.
- Resource Management: Efficiently allocate resources such as labor, materials, and tools to meet maintenance demands while adhering to budget constraints.
- Vendor Relations: Communicate with external vendors and contractors to secure quotes, negotiate agreements, and monitor the quality of outsourced maintenance services.
- Inventory Control: Oversee the inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment necessary for maintenance tasks, coordinating procurement and restocking as required.
- Documentation and Reporting: Keep precise records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment manuals, inspection reports, and maintenance logs. Generate reports on maintenance performance metrics and expenditures as needed.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance operations comply with safety regulations and protocols, identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Training and Development: Provide training and support to maintenance staff on proper procedures, safety protocols, and equipment handling, fostering professional growth within the team.
- Continuous Improvement: Seek opportunities for enhancing processes and reducing costs in maintenance operations, implementing best practices and innovative solutions to boost efficiency and productivity.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of experience in the facilities management sector.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, ideally in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Facilities Engineering.
- Prior experience in facilities management or engineering within a manufacturing context.
Preferred Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of building systems and infrastructure, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems.
- Understanding of safety regulations, environmental compliance, and building codes relevant to manufacturing facilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external contractors, and regulatory bodies.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Associate's Degree
- Bachelor's Degree in a business-related or technical field preferred (or equivalent education and experience)
- Master's Degree
- Relevant work-related certifications as required.
