Materials Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Materials Planner plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our production lines by expediting or de-expediting direct material and adjusting supplier schedules according to the demand plan. This position requires strong analytical and communication skills to maintain reasonable inventory levels and monitor supplier delivery performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and order needed material quantities within required delivery dates
  • Ensure good receipts according to requested delivery dates
  • Enforce purchasing agreement dates with suppliers
  • Optimize truck load for inbound deliveries
  • Manage PPAP expected dates with suppliers and coordinate efforts between purchasing, engineering, and quality
  • Collaborate with vendors on related projects
  • Verify order confirmations regarding price and delivery date and work with purchasing to address discrepancies
  • Communicate changes in drawing and/or product specifications to suppliers and ensure they understand and implement changes
  • Manage returns to suppliers, debit notes, and parts replacements in a timely manner
  • Maintain the material master according to MRP fields
  • Ensure inventory levels meet agreed-upon targets
  • Monitor inventory levels and expedite material as needed to avoid production line disruptions
  • Control inbound premium costs and ensure approval processes are followed
  • Evaluate and escalate unsolved backlog issues to prevent assembly line disruptions
  • Support PSA activities and procedures with team members

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience in MRP and ERP systems
  • Procurement exposure to various commodities (stampings, aluminum die casting, plastic injection, grey iron, fasteners)
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • SAP experience is preferred
