About the Role

The Director, Forestry Innovation Portfolio will play a pivotal role in driving the global pilot and scaling of the DeVine intervention. This position will lead a cross-functional team to develop a financially sustainable business plan, leveraging expertise from the Center for Natural Climate Solutions, Conservation Finance Division, and field offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a comprehensive business plan to scale the DeVine intervention globally, integrating biophysical data and financial sustainability models.
  • Establish and maintain standard terms for agreements with forestry concessions, ensuring compliance with CI policies and program requirements.
  • Develop and implement a site selection and evaluation process for potential pilot sites, facilitating carbon project validation and providing inputs to project design documents.
  • Manage project budgets and impact metrics for a portfolio of existing DeVine pilots, ensuring financial sustainability and environmental integrity.
  • Develop and implement a global scaling strategy, including fundraising and investor engagement, to support the DeVine initiative.
  • Convene a diverse group of staff across disciplines to advance the DeVine initiative, indirectly managing project staff, interdisciplinary teams, and outside partners.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in business development, financial modeling, and project management in the forestry or conservation sector.
  • Strong understanding of carbon finance, forestry concessions, and project validation processes.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to convene and manage cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple tasks and deadlines.
