Project Summary:

For the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and Journalists (PDP) is a program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). PDP aims to contribute to improving the institutional and operational capacity of governmental and non-governmental actors involved in the protection of human rights defenders and journalists. Through this program, it is intended to support the generation of a safer civic space for the exercise of freedom of expression and the defense of rights. PDP will work through August 2026 and engages with counterparts and allies at the federal and state levels.

Position Summary:

The Organizational Strengthening and Advocacy Consultant will collaborate with PDP in the development and implementation of organizational strengthening and advocacy methodologies aimed at organizations working with journalists and human rights defenders. The Consultant will implement methodologies and tools that enable the sustainability of processes in this field within organizations.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate activities with civil society organizations (CSO) for the application of methodologies and tools for organizational strengthening and advocacy processes. Support PDP's CSO partners in the improvement of internal processes. Provide support to organizations for a determined period to institutionalize processes and tools in these areas, achieving sustainable improvement.

Resumen del proyecto:

Por la Protección de Personas Defensoras y Periodistas (PDP) es un programa de la Agencia de los Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo Internacional (USAID). PDP tiene el objetivo de contribuir a mejorar la capacidad institucional y operativa de actores gubernamentales y no gubernamentales involucrados en la protección de las personas defensoras de derechos humanos y periodistas. A través de este programa, se pretende apoyar en la generación de un espacio cívico más seguro para el ejercicio de la libertad de expresión y la defensa de derechos. PDP trabajará hasta agosto de 2026 y realiza actividades con contrapartes y aliados a nivel federal y estatal.

Resumen del cargo:

La persona consultora colaborará con PDP en el desarrollo e implementación de metodologías de fortalecimiento organizacional e incidencia dirigidas a organizaciones que trabajen con personas periodistas y defensoras de derechos humanos. Implementará metodologías y herramientas que permitan hacer sostenible los procesos en esta materia en las organizaciones.

Responsabilidades:

Coordinar actividades con organizaciones de la sociedad civil para la aplicación de metodologías y herramientas de fortalecimiento organizacional y de procesos de incidencia. Apoyar a las OSC aliadas de PDP en el mejoramiento de procesos internos. Brindar acompañamiento a las organizaciones durante un tiempo determinado para institucionalizar los procesos y las herramientas en estas temáticas, logrando una mejora sostenible.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in social sciences, law, international relations, social work or related required.Master’s degree in human rights, social development, development of civil society organizations is preferred. Minimum five years of experience in managing sessions for planning, impact, and strengthening of CSOs is required. Minimum three years of experience in the development and implementation of USAID methodologies and strengthening processes for CSOs is required. Knowledge of the intersectional approach and gender perspective is required. Fluency in Spanish required.

Requisitos:

Licenciatura en ciencias sociales, derecho, relaciones internacionales, trabajo social o afines. Preferentemente con maestría en derechos humanos, desarrollo social, desarrollo de organizaciones de la sociedad civil. Por lo menos cinco años de experiencia en manejo de sesiones de planeación, incidencia y fortalecimiento de organizaciones de la sociedad civil. Experiencia en el desarrollo e implementación de metodologías de USAID y procesos de fortalecimiento para OSC. Conocimiento del enfoque interseccional y la perspectiva de género. Fluidez en español.
