Job Description:
The Labor Relations Manager plays a critical role in fostering positive and productive relationships between management and employees or labor unions. This position ensures a harmonious work environment and compliance with labor laws and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements human resources programs for a plant.
- Identifies and ensures compliance with labor laws and regulations affecting human resources functions.
- Recruits, interviews, and selects employees to fill operational vacant positions.
- Conducts new employee orientation to promote a positive attitude toward company goals.
- Keeeps records of benefits plans participation and personnel transactions.
- Coordinates management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and prevention of sexual harassment.
- Advises management in resolving employee relations issues.
- Manages the Collective Bargaining Agreement, prepares and participates in negotiations, and promotes a good relationship with the union.
- Administers benefits programs such as disability insurance, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance.
- Investigates accidents and prepares internal reports or for any medical institution required.
- Conducts wage surveys within the labor market to determine competitive wage rates.
- Prepares and manages budgets for operations and services for company personnel.
- Prepares employee separation notices and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
- Prepares reports and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover.
- Represents the organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in operations, manufacturing, and complex product fabrication processes. They must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, coaching, collaboration, and organizational skills. Advanced ability to encourage communication and resolve conflicts is essential. Excellent written and verbal skills are required, as well as the ability to advise subordinates to meet schedules and resolve problems.
The successful candidate will have solid analytical and process management skills, with strong business acumen and the ability to define and understand critical issues.
