Job Summary

As the Director of Human Resources, you will lead and direct the routines of a team of HR Managers who provide local support and guidance to people managers in a specified business unit.

You will ensure your team has the knowledge and capability to effectively deliver HR programs as consistently as possible.

You will oversee a broad team of HRMs and provide guidance and direction to ensure alignment with HR Strategic Advisors (SAs), COEs (Centers of Expertise), and people leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set and achieve goals for the HRM team, in partnership with other HRM Leads to ensure alignment and consistency.
  • Coach and mentor HRMs to grow and develop within their role and future career aspirations.
  • Work closely with people managers to make talent decisions, providing coaching related to exit interviews, handling difficult situations, terminations, performance improvement plans, and preparing for performance/compensation conversations.
  • Oversee the delivery of key talent programming, partnering and coaching People Managers throughout the process; programs include performance management, talent acquisition, merit administration, career development, training and learning curriculum, annual enrollment, communications and change management, DEI events and initiatives, internal mobility, and local succession planning and talent review (with People Managers).
  • Understand HR-related business issues and have a broad knowledge of the industry to support leaders by bringing in appropriate resources to solve challenges.
  • Partner with HR Strategic Advisor(s) on translating business strategy into rhythms and execution at site levels.
  • Operate as the key trusted HR Business Partner to People Leaders and to other members of the local/regional management team, acting as the expert on people and organizational issues.
  • Serve as/support cultural champions, embodying the Acuity Brands values and principles, ensuring organizational actions are tied to principles, and injecting language/expectations around culture throughout the business.
  • Provide strategic support across HR functional areas, liaising between HR and business/site to ensure that programs remain globally consistent and locally relevant/compliant.
  • Assist People Managers to make talent decisions, providing coaching related to exit interviews, handling difficult situations, terminations, performance improvement plans, and preparing for performance/compensation conversations.
  • Work closely with the COEs to incorporate employee insights and lead the effective rollout of HR programs such as performance management and merit administration.
  • Improve results/effectiveness of teams by ensuring that HR strategies and plans are translated into specific actions and tangible results.
  • Provide coaching and assistance to People Managers, helping to advise on new positions, career frameworks, and talent acquisition.
  • Coordinate with HR Process Operation team, relevant RPO partners, and hiring managers to ensure seamless onsite interviewing and selection processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years of human resources management experience.
  • Must be able to travel within Mexico & USA (Valid VISA & Passport).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English & Spanish).
  • Ability to lead, direct, and develop a team.
  • Strong performance management skills and ability to guide leaders through steps.
  • Learning and development knowledge with ability to leverage resources.
  • Proficiency in data judgement, including analyzing, interpreting, and communicating data effectively.
  • Talent program delivery management and execution experience.
  • Detailed oriented with a bias for action.
  • General knowledge of employment law/policies.
  • Financial acumen.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) Teams, and SuccessFactors.
