Job Summary

This role involves performing complex engineering tests, checkouts, and development engineering tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical systems and be able to analyze test results to implement changes and resolve problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components or assemblies for industrial equipment and machinery.
  • Set up and conduct tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design or to obtain data for development, standardization, quality control, and problem resolution.
  • Analyze indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications.
  • Record test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method.
  • Maintain software, documentation, and equipment to the latest revision or operational specifications.
  • Assist engineers in developing and designing hardware and software required to test customer products per their specifications.
  • Train technicians and operators on products, processes, and equipment.

Specialized Job Responsibilities

This role may require specialized job responsibilities, including:

  • Assisting with the development and delivery of customer presentations and interfacing with customers.
  • Partnering with engineers on outside third-party developments.
  • Organizing documentation (specifications, schematics, and procedures).
  • Performing tests per customer specifications and requirements.

Education / Experience

This role typically requires an Associate's degree, military training, equivalent vocational training, or equivalent experience. Typically requires 10 years of related experience.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

This role requires the ability to serve as an expert/consultant in technical skills with other employees, demonstrate knowledge of advanced technologies, and improve processes. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures, and effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and customers.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

This role requires a technical high school degree.

Scope / Impact

This role may direct other employees and function as a working supervisor with a large scope of responsibility.

Decision Making / Discretion

This role determines quality/testing methods/procedures on new assignments, and decisions may affect the department/function.

Supervision / Leadership

This role may mentor, coach, and lead other employees.

Work Environment:

This role involves working in a manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, work that requires repetitive motion, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.

Physical Demands:

This role requires the ability to handle small components, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
