Position Objective

To ensure timely and accurate compliance with Mexican tax obligations, with a primary focus on VAT (IVA) compliance, tax filings, and supporting documentation, in accordance with local regulations and internal control requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly and annual federal and local tax filings, primarily VAT (IVA), in compliance with Mexican tax regulations.
  • Collect, review, and validate tax documentation, including invoices, supporting schedules, and working papers required for tax compliance and VAT refund processes.
  • Prepare tax working papers and reconciliations supporting tax returns and accounting records.
  • Support VAT refund processes, including preparation of documentation, follow-up with tax authorities, and coordination with external advisors.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of tax policies, procedures, and internal controls in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with accounting, finance, and external advisors to ensure consistency between accounting records and tax filings.
  • Provide support during internal and external tax audits by preparing required documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Monitor changes in tax regulations and assess their impact on daily tax operations.
  • Maintain organized tax files and documentation in accordance with audit and compliance requirements.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Tax-related certifications or postgraduate studies are a plus.

Experience

  • 2–4 years of experience in tax accounting or tax compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with VAT (IVA) compliance and tax filings in Mexico.
  • Experience in manufacturing or maquiladora environment is preferred.

Technical Knowledge

  • Mexican tax regulations, especially VAT (IVA).
  • Preparation of tax working papers and reconciliations.
  • Basic understanding of federal and local tax filings.
  • ERP systems and accounting software (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced).

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage tax documentation and meet deadlines.
  • Good organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and external advisors.
  • Proactive attitude toward compliance and process improvement.

Language Requirements

  • English: Intermediate level (reading and basic communication).
  • Spanish: Fluent (required).
