Job Summary

Celestica Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Commodity Management Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Supply Chain Management department, you will be responsible for managing strategic and high-dollar commodities, developing and implementing procurement strategies, and leading negotiations with suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commodity Management: Maintain global or regional responsibility for strategic and/or high-dollar commodities, including price/value determination, product and/or service negotiations, and terms and conditions.
  • Procurement Strategy Development: Develop and implement procurement strategies for commodities, including competitive analysis, technology direction, supplier analysis, development, and selection, and pricing strategy.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Act as primary interface with Celestica suppliers for all relationship management, contract negotiation issues, establishing business frameworks for transactions, performance reviews, business development, and supplier awards programs.
  • Supply Chain Optimization: Source all products and services, maintaining a continuity of supply, while delivering the lowest cost component or service solution.
  • Negotiation Leadership: Lead the Commodity Council Corporate negotiation teams, individually as required, or the Customer Material Commitment process through materials pricing and Customer BOM analysis.
  • Performance Reporting: Provide site direction and performance reporting for cost analysis to senior management.
  • Team Development: Assist in team development and planning, recruitment/first-line candidate selection and screening, developing training plans for new employees, and mentoring new employees.
  • Negotiation Strategy Development: Lead negotiations for high-impact commodities, providing guidance on negotiations strategy and negotiations planning, developing a commodity strategy, and presentations/communication consistent messages to suppliers.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct strategic analysis on pricing, the market, suppliers, customers, competitors, contracts, and long-term agreements.
  • Process Improvement: Drive process improvement, lead the development of IT tools for the group, define business processes, and implement new tools/processes.
  • Bid Activity: Perform bid activity for sensitive/highly visible complex bids.
Requirements
  • Extensive Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of the marketplace conditions for a broad range of strategic commodities, including industry pricing, technology, and supply/demand trends.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Business Acumen: Strong knowledge of negotiation practices/methodology for commodities.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadlines.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to evaluate, prioritize, and problem-solve a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion.
