Electrical Design Engineer

Eaton Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our VEH EMB eMobility division. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in leading or supporting the design and development of production-intent eMobility PD&P products for various OEMs.
Key Responsibilities- Design and Development: Lead or support the design and development of electrical hardware for automotive Power Distribution and Protection (PD&P) products, ensuring compliance with Eaton's product D&D quality management system.
- Sustaining Engineering: Lead or support sustaining engineering work on products manufactured at the Eaton Reynosa plant, including cost-out and electrical design analysis & verification activities.
- Project Monitoring and Control: Lead or participate in electrical project monitoring and control activities, such as work planning, team meetings, open issues list & risk management.
- Design Reviews: Lead or participate in electrical design reviews, including system design, schematic, PCB, component selection, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), EMC, thermal, etc.
- Component Integration: Interface with component manufacturers to discuss the integration of their parts into Eaton's circuit designs.
- Design Verification: Create and execute design verification test plans, including measuring voltages, currents, signals, rise/fall times, etc.
- Design Documentation: Prepare design documentation for release, including PCB Assembly drawings, Manufacturing files, Gerber data, etc.
- Manufacturing Support: Provide manufacturing engineering with support during prototype product builds.
- Issue Investigation: Lead or support the investigation of project issues at the module and vehicle level.
- Component Supplier Audits: Participate in component supplier and production lines audits, as needed.
- Customer Interface: Interface with customers and other internal groups, such as Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Test/Validation Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering, as needed.
- Vehicle Builds and Launches: Support vehicle builds, product launches, and production quality investigation, as needed.
- Quality Management: Follow Eaton's Quality Management System (processes, standards, work instructions, etc.) in all product development work.
- Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum three (3) years of experience in new product development of automotive or related electrical design experience.
- Knowledge and Skills: Good knowledge of the automotive product design and development cycle (from concept to production), solid understanding of automotive specifications, experience developing project work plans and project risk management, experience reviewing and discussing technical requirements with OEM customers, experience in schematic/Circuit and PCB design, circuit design knowledge of typical automotive circuits, experience in circuit design analysis, experience in developing design verification test plans, hands-on experience using test & measurement equipment, hands-on experience in evaluating the thermal performance of electrical designs, understanding of how design for EMC, and general knowledge of Functional Safety and ISO26262.
- Language and Communication: 90% proficient in English language (spoken and written).
- Personal Qualities: Self-motivated, organized with a positive attitude and attention to detail, team player who is willing to learn as well as mentor other team members, and open to flexible work solutions.
