Position Overview
The role of the IT Systems Technician is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of IT services within the organization. This position involves the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various computer systems, both hardware and software, while providing exceptional support to users.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver Help Desk assistance and manage incoming support requests through the ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and escalation when necessary.
• Assist in diagnosing and resolving technical issues with computer equipment across all operational areas.
• Provide comprehensive support for all computing devices, including printers and barcode scanners utilized in production.
• Oversee the functionality of telecommunication systems and ensure their optimal performance.
• Conduct regular servicing of PC hardware and software to maintain operational efficiency.
• Manage inventory of data processing supplies and coordinate orders with the purchasing department as needed.
• Collaborate with vendors to resolve technical issues related to equipment.
• Monitor and verify nightly system backups, performing recovery procedures as required.
• Uphold data security protocols to protect sensitive information.
• Assess user requirements and recommend suitable alternatives to enhance productivity.
• Prioritize and coordinate all service requests to maximize efficiency across the facility.
• Analyze past incidents to propose system enhancements aimed at reducing future support requests.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for reference within the IT department.
• Provide remote and on-site support to users, ensuring quick resolution of known issues.
• Supervise the monitoring system and escalate unresolved issues for further action.
• Manage user accounts and permissions across various systems.
• Keep track of hardware assets and initiate orders for necessary equipment.
• Adhere to the established Change Control Process for all modifications.
• Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on the latest technology trends and practices.
• Communicate IT policies and procedures effectively to the user community.
Qualifications
• An Associate Degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent certification is preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of computer systems, including various operating systems and software applications.
• Proficiency in hardware and software installation, testing, and operation.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated with excellent organizational capabilities and a keen eye for detail.
• Capability to work in diverse environmental conditions, including production areas.
• Good vision, with or without corrective lenses, and dexterity to handle tools and equipment.
• Availability for on-call duties and occasional overtime as required.
• Physical ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs unassisted) and perform various physical tasks.
