Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic leader to spearhead the Procurement Center of Excellence at CEMEX, driving its strategic evolution and operational excellence.

This role encompasses the management of critical processes related to Data Governance, Digital Procurement, Data Analytics, Policy Development, Goods and Services Classification, Supplier Engagement Programs, Communication Strategies, and Change Management initiatives.

The successful candidate will be responsible for structuring and implementing a comprehensive digital transformation strategy for the procurement function on a global scale, redefining methodologies and processes to foster an efficient digital business ecosystem.

Additionally, the role includes the development and oversight of a global master catalog of materials and services, enhancing spend visibility and inventory management through the utilization of cutting-edge digital tools and solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Governance: Transform ERP data and unstructured data into actionable insights using a Data Lake strategy. Oversee a centralized and intelligent data hub that integrates global data with enriched content quality, enhancing the customer experience and unlocking business opportunities.
  • Standardize information for benchmark and KPI generation.
  • Deliver descriptive and predictive analytics to identify high-value opportunities.
  • Create standard and self-service data visualizations and models.
  • Digital Procurement: Redefine procurement strategies, processes, workforce capabilities, and support systems, driven by emerging digital technologies to establish an efficient digital business ecosystem.
  • Enable an integrated digital ecosystem for a streamlined, transparent, and traceable procurement process.
  • Facilitate tools that enhance automation in procurement processes.
  • Embrace innovative technologies to provide global supplier alternatives.
  • Classification Process: Develop a structured Global Materials and Services Master Catalog powered by Artificial Intelligence, supported by a user-friendly digital tool to enable intelligent purchasing, enhancing spend visibility and inventory management.
  • Data Analytics: Govern the global spend methodology (data strategy, spend organization, types of analytics, and visualizations) to improve spend analysis visibility, support strategic sourcing methodologies, and aid in negotiations at global, regional, and local levels.
  • Governance and Policies: Ensure compliance with CEMEX Procurement Model norms and regulations, providing continuous guidance and support to end users.
  • Evolve norms to maintain agility and transparency in processes.
  • Promote knowledge transfer through the application of efficient standardized procedures.
  • Supplier Engagement: Deliver a superior administrative and transactional experience for suppliers collaborating with us.
  • Communication: Advocate for Procurement initiatives and achievements through effective communication strategies.

Position Challenges

  • Data Integration and Management: Harmonizing ERP and unstructured data into a cohesive Data Lake strategy presents complexities that necessitate robust data governance and management practices.
  • Digital Transformation: Executing a global digital transformation plan involves significant change management, aligning diverse stakeholders, and ensuring the adoption of new technologies and processes.
  • Compliance and Governance: Maintaining compliance with global regulations and evolving standards while ensuring agility and transparency can be challenging in a dynamic regulatory landscape.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivating and sustaining strong relationships with suppliers globally, while managing a master catalog of materials and services, requires adept communication and negotiation skills.
  • Data Analytics and Insights: Delivering accurate and actionable descriptive and predictive analyses necessitates advanced data analytics capabilities and the ability to translate data into business insights.
  • Cost Management: Effectively managing procurement costs while enhancing spend visibility and inventory management is vital for maintaining financial efficiency.
  • Technological Adoption: Implementing and integrating new digital procurement technologies and ensuring their effective utilization across the organization can pose significant challenges.
  • Change Management: Leading change management initiatives to facilitate smooth transitions and the adoption of new processes and systems throughout the organization.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Administration, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
  • A Master's degree in Business Administration, Digital Transformation, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Over 10 years of extensive experience in procurement, data management, digital procurement, and data analytics.
  • A proven track record of managing procurement processes and leading digital transformation initiatives for more than 3 years.
  • Experience in governance and policy development, supplier relationship management, and change management for over 3 years.
  • Skills:
  • Strong project management skills to lead and execute complex projects effectively.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving techniques and business analysis tools.
  • Technical Knowledge:
  • Familiarity with SAP and other procurement-related software, such as COUPA.
  • Knowledge of AI and digital tools for procurement and data management.
  • Leadership and Management:
  • Strong leadership skills to manage cross-functional teams and drive organizational change.
  • Language Skills:
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish.
