The Senior Analyst for Application Support is a highly skilled professional position. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the enhancement of new methodologies and the refinement of processes and workflows within the designated area. The individual integrates subject matter expertise and industry knowledge within a specific domain, necessitating a profound comprehension of how various areas collaborate within the sub-function while aligning with the overall objectives of the function and the business as a whole.

The role involves evaluating moderately complex and variable challenges with significant potential impact, where the formulation of a strategy or action requires careful consideration of multiple alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using diverse sources of information. Strong analytical capabilities are essential to filter, prioritize, and validate complex and dynamic material from various sources. Excellent communication and diplomacy skills are also crucial. The analyst frequently assumes both informal and formal leadership roles within teams and is involved in mentoring and training new team members. The individual has a substantial impact on project size, geography, and more by influencing decisions through guidance, counsel, and/or facilitating services to others in their area of expertise. The performance of all teams in the area is directly influenced by the individual's contributions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and business support for users of applications, ensuring prompt resolutions to application issues while driving improvements in stability, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Maintain application systems that have transitioned from development to daily operational use.
  • Manage, maintain, and support applications and their operating environments, focusing on stability, quality, and functionality in line with service level expectations.
  • Conduct start-of-day checks, continuous monitoring, and facilitate regional handovers.
  • Execute same-day risk reconciliations.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical support documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to maximize the potential of utilized applications.
  • Assess risks and impacts of production issues, escalating them to business and technology management promptly.
  • Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are effectively implemented and functioning.
  • Define and formulate the scope and objectives for complex application enhancements and problem resolution.
  • Review and develop contingency plans for applications to guarantee user availability.
  • Collaborate with relevant development and production support teams to prioritize bug fixes and support tooling requirements.
  • Participate in application releases, encompassing development, testing, and deployment into production.
  • Engage in post-implementation analysis to confirm successful system design and functionality.
  • Consider the implications of technology applications within the current environment, identifying risks, vulnerabilities, and security issues while communicating their impact.
  • Ensure adherence to essential procedures and assist in defining operational standards and processes.
  • Act as a liaison between users and internal technology groups, as well as vendors.
  • Expected to escalate issues to the appropriate technology and business teams while adhering to Service Level Agreements.
  • Serve as an advisor or mentor to junior analysts.
  • Provide evaluative judgment based on factual analysis in complex and unique situations.
  • Directly influence the business by ensuring the quality of work produced by oneself and others, impacting both the team and closely related workgroups.
  • Exhibit comprehensive communication and diplomacy skills to convey complex information effectively.
  • Actively engage in and take ownership of support project initiatives, focusing on stability, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Perform additional duties and functions as assigned.
  • Operate with a limited level of direct supervision, demonstrating independence in judgment and autonomy.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to senior stakeholders and team members.
  • Appropriately assess risks when making business decisions, with particular attention to the firm's reputation and safeguarding its clients and assets, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of experience in an Application Support role.
  • Proficiency in installing, configuring, or supporting business applications.
  • Familiarity with programming languages and a willingness to learn.
  • Advanced execution capabilities with the ability to adapt quickly to changes and re-prioritization.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues in layman's terms.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Experience with issue tracking and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of problem management tools.
  • Strong overall technical skills.
  • Ability to share information effectively with other support team members and technology teams.
  • Capability to plan and organize workload efficiently.
  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate appropriately with relevant stakeholders.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Languages:

  • English - Advanced

Technical Skills:

  • Mainframe knowledge: Tandem
  • Open Systems: Linux
  • Development languages: C, Java (XML/XSD), Cobol
  • Other: Tuxedo knowledge, applications monitoring tools
