About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Cloud Business Office team's FinOps squad at Takeda, where you will play a critical role in working with engineering teams and stakeholders to optimize cloud financial management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage critical relationships with stakeholders, including engineers, finance business partners, cloud architects, and key vendors.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest AWS services and analyze their applicability to Takeda applications, promoting their usage amongst engineers and business owners.
  • Promote a FinOps mindset across cloud-using teams, while being mindful of challenges across a large application portfolio.
  • Monitor cloud spend for each business unit and work with engineers to implement optimization opportunities, including advising on Reservation/Savings Plan purchases.
  • Build and maintain reports, including dashboards, suitable for key stakeholders of cloud.
  • Develop plans, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis on cloud consumption.
  • Link activity into financial processes and cycles, providing variance analysis to budgets during month-end reporting.
  • Ensure chargeback and showback processes are fully operational.
  • Establish guardrails/policies to detect and remove usage waste.
  • Continuously improve front-door and in-life processes, ensuring the right data is captured to drive cost transparency, optimization, and financial accountability.
  • Work with finance teams to ensure correct accounting is applied according to Group Accounting Policy and assist in booking accruals during financial close.

Requirements

  • Experience building and managing cloud cost analysis and visualizations using tools like Apptio, MS Excel, Power BI, or similar.
  • Good data query skills, generating actionable, concise, and presentable data visualizations.
  • Understanding of AWS Cloud fundamentals in FinOps to manage cloud budget, forecast, spend monitoring, purchasing various commitments, and deriving cloud cost optimization across the organization.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with developing scripts using languages like Python, SQL, and Terraform to implement automated cost optimization control and attribution policies.
  • Certification in FinOps Foundation practitioner is desired.
  • Certification in AWS fundamentals or higher would be preferred.
