About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Key Account Manager to join our team at American Express. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with our customers, driving business growth, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acquire new merchants and drive intentional volumes through proactive servicing and enrollment on specific programs
  • Lead a large multi-city team to meet Amex objectives of parity coverage in the market
  • Partner with Issuers, International Consumer and Small Business Services, Global Network Services, and Global Corporate Card to integrate merchants and strengthen card value proposition
  • Drive marketing platform programs and merchant activation programs in alignment with Global Network and Marketing Information and Membership Executive team
  • Develop in-depth understanding of the marketplace and customer needs
  • Proactively conduct research and data gathering activities to understand market trends and customer issues
  • Manage an effective pipeline of opportunities and identify potential business drivers
  • Influence customer decisions and work in partnership with customers as a problem solver
  • Differentiate American Express value and maximize interactions with customers to demonstrate unique value
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in merchant acquisition, with a strong track record of success
  • In-depth understanding of cards and payments business, including issuing and acquiring ecosystems
  • Robust financial acumen, including P&L understanding
  • Understanding of new development technologies in POS machines
  • Consultative selling skills, with ability to make presentations in English and Spanish
  • Handling objections and negotiation enabled by data and analytics
  • Knowledge of external insights and competitive landscape
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Finance, with MBA a plus
  • 100% sales hunter, with high level of English language proficiency (oral and written)
  • Self-motivated and team player
