About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Informatics Sales Specialist to join our team at Illumina. In this role, you will utilize your expertise in genomics and informatics to identify and close informatics opportunities, primarily in genetic and clinical research or testing.

Responsibilities
  1. Drive Customer Adoption and Utilization: Provide technical guidance and subject matter expertise during the sales cycle, focusing on areas such as NGS research data analysis, management, sharing, and storage, as well as integration of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) in end-to-end workflows.
  2. Collaborate with the Sales Team: Work closely with sales specialists, account managers, and other sales team members to make customers successful in bioinformatics and NGS data analysis.
  3. Develop and Conduct Presentations: Develop, coordinate, and conduct basic and advanced informatics presentations and customer seminars, including demos and proof-of-concept work.
  4. Be a Subject Matter Expert: Become the regional subject matter expert for the Illumina Informatics portfolio and the product line's specific sales process and quoting subtleties.
  5. Ensure Customer Success: Play a significant role in ensuring customers renew licenses as part of annual sales activities and develop and maintain positive relationships with customers.
  6. Provide Voice of Customer Feedback: Provide input and feedback to development teams, marketing teams, and others as needed.
  7. Assist in Removing Informatics Barriers: Assist customers to remove informatics barriers that may unlock sample volume, drive sequencing consumables uptake, and grow the sales pipeline.
  8. Prepare and Present Sales Performance Data: Prepare and present relevant sales performance data as needed.
  9. Contribute to Strategic Planning: Contribute to annual account manager strategic planning process.
Requirements
  1. Minimum 5 Years of Related Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a sciences degree in Bioinformatics, Biology, Genetics, or Biochemistry. Masters or Ph.D. preferred.
  2. Working Proficiency in Languages: Working proficiency in Portuguese, Spanish, and English, written and verbal.
  3. Experience in Direct Sales or Customer-Facing Role: Experience in a direct sales or similar customer-facing role desirable but not essential.
  4. Sequencing Data Analysis and Interpretation: Experience with sequencing data analysis and interpretation, including Variant Calling, filtering, annotation, performance, and reporting.
  5. Recognized Technical Expertise: Recognized deep technical expertise in clinical informatics, bioinformatics, or an associated area.
  6. Knowledge of Sequencing Applications: Knowledge of sequencing applications, including current and emerging applications, and related data formats, file types, data footprints, and typical analysis methods.
  7. Cloud Services and Providers: Knowledge of relevant cloud services and providers, including basic pricing models, etc.
  8. Linux, Command Line, Python, and APIs: Working knowledge of Linux, command line, Python, and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) utilization.
  9. Problem-Solving and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, including large audience presentation and the ability to train others, as well as demonstrated superior problem-solving and interpersonal skills in a customer-facing environment.
  10. Customer Service and Success: Clear vision of and commitment to providing outstanding customer service and customer success.
  11. Travel Requirements: Must be willing to travel approximately 50% of the time.
