Job Summary:

Morrison Products, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Sales Engineer to join our team. As a Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for servicing existing house accounts, identifying and developing new customers, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Customer Relationship Management: Establish and maintain close relationships with customers, including personnel in Purchasing, Planning, Material Control, Engineering, Quality Control, Receiving, Line Supervisors, and Senior Management.
  2. Order Review and Optimization: Review open orders to determine if customers have ordered at anticipated levels, deliveries are scheduled as required, and delivery systems are optimized to meet customers' expectations.
  3. Customer Complaint Resolution: Handle customer complaints and opportunities regarding quality, delivery, service, price, and product consolidations/outsourcing.
  4. Rejected Materials and Field Returns: Review rejected materials or field returns in a fair and equitable manner, using the information to drive corrective actions at the customer and internally.
  5. Pricing and Negotiations: Communicate pertinent pricing information to the Account Manager, participate in pricing strategy and negotiations, and emphasize quality, service, and total value provided to justify pricing.
  6. Sales Growth and Profitability: Increase sales and improve profitability by understanding customers' business, motivations, and objectives, and offering creative, value-add solutions to facilitate increased sales and improved profitability.
  7. Market Development: Increase sales with existing customers, new customers, and adjacent markets, as discussed with the Account Manager.
  8. Engineering Relationships: Establish relationships with site Engineering, both Product Support and Manufacturing, to ensure that the company proactively addresses customers' changing requirements.
  9. Product Knowledge: Be familiar with the products and assembly processes of our customers, including products by model number, description, annual usage, and assembly line location and material flow.
  10. Customer Information Management: Establish and maintain spreadsheets for each customer, detailing approved suppliers, current supplier, estimated annual usage, and competitive prices.
  11. Customer Communication: Establish and maintain customer information sheets, providing contact information, including proper names, titles/job descriptions, and directions to customers' place of business.
  12. Fan and Blower Selection: Assist customers with fan and blower selection efforts, suggesting a fan based on customers' application requirements, with the assistance of our fan and blower selection guide.
  13. Forecasting and Budgeting: Work with Sales counterparts to prepare comprehensive annual forecasts by product line and type, and prepare an annual budget of selling expenditures.
  14. Travel and Communication: Plan efficient and economic sales trips, coordinate customer visits, and prepare comprehensive, legible sales reports.
  15. Customer File Management: Review local customer sales files annually and discard outdated and useless information in accordance with company policy.

Supervisory Responsibility:

None

Travel:

As required to support local customers, develop new markets and customers, and facilitate projects and communications. Estimated travel is several days per week.

Confidentiality:

Work with confidential and proprietary customer product information, pricing, and confidential company intelligence.

Experience and Education:

Five years effective industrial sales experience or equivalent is desired. A college degree or significant industry-related business experience is required.

Other Requirements:

Must be able to develop and maintain business relationships, be self-organized, motivated, and analytical, and have the ability to recognize sales opportunities and determine appropriate strategies.

Must be proficient with a computer and a working knowledge of software business tools. Have a working knowledge of current manufacturing concepts, such as lean manufacturing, to meet and exceed customer expectations and facilitate value-driven sales growth.
