Senior UX Content Designer

Role Overview

In this position as a Senior UX Content Designer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading comprehensive UX content solutions within our digital environment.
  • Identifying user needs and challenges, shaping the overall solution through a user-centered design approach.
  • Guiding and mentoring junior and mid-level UX content professionals.
  • Executing tasks efficiently and independently while addressing any emerging challenges.
  • Navigating ambiguous situations using data and foundational UX principles to influence decisions and resolve issues.
  • Critically assessing not only the appropriate language for an experience but also the optimal experience for the language used.
  • Showcasing the significant impact of language and visual communication across design, research, product, and development teams.
  • Educating the organization on the significance of UX content, design, and research methodologies, emphasizing the importance of cross-team collaboration on user experience outcomes.
  • Establishing foundational processes, standards, metrics, and engagement protocols that foster valuable partnerships across UX, product, and development teams.
  • Expanding UX content writing capabilities into organizational frameworks through design systems, mapping, and taxonomy.
  • Contributing to content strategy initiatives, such as:
    • Assessing product lines or digital experiences for potential UX content enhancements.
    • Defining and refining voice and tone elements for both distinct and interconnected products.
    • Assisting team members and partners in aligning processes related to project planning, asset management, design systems, and workflow tools.
    • Identifying process gaps and proposing solutions within and across teams.
    • Leading empathy, content, and feature mapping sessions, along with other discovery and planning exercises in collaboration with UX design and research.
    • Preparing for and facilitating cross-content and cross-UX ideation workshops and training sessions.
    • Advocating for customers during product prioritization with a customer-centric mindset.
    • Embracing a growth mindset, thriving on challenges and viewing setbacks as opportunities for development.

Candidate Profile

You will be an ideal candidate if your background includes:

  • A bachelor's degree in writing, marketing, communications, or a related discipline.
  • Over 5 years of progressive experience in UX writing and content design, particularly for complex software products (cloud, app, or web).
  • A keen attention to detail, ensuring consistent and thoughtful outputs for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • A deep understanding of contemporary design thinking and best practices in UX content design.
  • A strong user focus and the ability to influence within complex organizational structures.
  • Experience promoting UX content writing and design within large organizations to enhance understanding and emphasis on its importance.
  • Extensive collaboration experience with designers and developers in UX, creative, marketing, or similar environments.
  • The ability to take initial guidance, execute tasks, and deliver usable outputs for research and strategic initiatives independently.
  • Proficiency in using work management and collaboration platforms, design and writing tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • A solid grasp of agile UX methodologies in collaboration with design, research, product, and development teams.
  • Familiarity with UX content KPIs and success metrics, including methods for measuring content effectiveness.
  • Experience presenting influential information to senior leadership during project updates.
  • An understanding of the importance of both primary and secondary research, as well as qualitative and quantitative insights, in shaping language and content.
  • Advanced knowledge of maintaining style guidelines, writing standards, and brand voice and tone guides.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with AODA or WCAG AA/AAA accessibility standards as they pertain to UX content.
  • Experience with agile management tools such as Azure DevOps, Mingle, or Jira.
  • Knowledge of content management systems and analytics tools.
  • Understanding of qualitative and quantitative methods for assessing UX content success.
