About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and reliable individual to join our team as a Public Area Support Associate. In this role, you will be responsible for cleaning public and employee restrooms and showers, maintaining glass surfaces, and dusting surfaces in assigned areas. You will also empty trash containers, inspect furniture, and report any damages or maintenance issues to the relevant departments.

Responsibilities

As a Public Area Support Associate, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Cleaning public and employee restrooms and showers to maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness;
  • Maintaining glass surfaces in public and employee areas to ensure they are sparkling clean and free of streaks;
  • Dusting surfaces in assigned areas to prevent dust accumulation and maintain a clean environment;
  • Emptying trash containers, ashtrays, and ash urns in public areas into proper containers to maintain a clean and odor-free environment;
  • Inspecting furniture for tears, rips, and stains and reporting damages to the relevant departments;
  • Cleaning and maintaining lights to ensure they are functioning properly and safely;
  • Posting caution signs to limit traffic when necessary to prevent accidents and ensure guest safety;
  • Contacting other departments directly for maintenance issues to ensure prompt resolution and minimize disruptions;
  • Responding promptly to requests from guests and other departments to provide excellent customer service and support;
  • Identifying and reporting preventative or other maintenance issues in public areas or guest rooms to prevent accidents and ensure guest satisfaction;

To be successful as a Public Area Support Associate, you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures to ensure compliance and maintain a safe working environment;
  • Report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries to the relevant departments to ensure prompt resolution and minimize disruptions;
  • Complete safety training and certifications to ensure you have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform your duties safely and effectively;
  • Properly store flammable materials to prevent fires and ensure a safe working environment;
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional at all times to maintain a positive image and provide excellent customer service;
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information to protect the interests of Marriott International and its guests;
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards to provide excellent customer service and support;
  • Anticipate and address guests' service needs to ensure their expectations are met and exceeded;
  • Assist individuals with disabilities to provide equal access to facilities and services;
  • Thank guests with genuine appreciation to show appreciation for their business and loyalty;
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language to communicate effectively and build strong relationships;
  • Support team to reach common goals to achieve success and excellence in everything we do;
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards to maintain high levels of performance and excellence;
  • Move, lift, carry, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 55 pounds without assistance and in excess of 55 pounds with assistance to ensure physical ability and safety;
  • Ability to push and pull work-related machinery over sloping and uneven surfaces to ensure efficient and effective performance;
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping to perform tasks and duties safely and effectively;
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines to ensure they are in good working condition and safe to use;
  • Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks and duties safely and effectively;
  • Move through narrow, confined, or elevated spaces to access areas and perform tasks and duties safely and effectively;
  • Move up and down a ladder to access high areas and perform tasks and duties safely and effectively;
  • Stand, sit, kneel, or walk for an extended period across an entire work shift to perform tasks and duties safely and effectively;

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this role is $40,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on location and experience. This salary range reflects the level of expertise and responsibility required for this position, as well as the competitive market rates for similar roles in the hospitality industry.
